In the Christian tradition, Easter has a special place. By the number of people celebrating it, this holiday takes third place after New Year and birthday.
On the eve of Easter, vigils and a procession are held in all churches. People bake traditional festive pastries, which are Easter cakes, which symbolize the body of Christ. By Easter Sunday, painted eggs are ready, which believers give each other, saying: “Christ is risen!”, “Truly risen!”. After the Great Lent, they put the best dishes on the table. By tradition, these days they present gifts, especially to poor relatives, and engage in charity.
This year, a festive liturgy was held in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. There were no people in the temple, as believers were asked to pray at home and watch the service on TV. During the service, they read prayers from the coronavirus. The service ended with a speech of Patriarch to priests and bishops.
