Russian figure skater Anna Shcherbakova won a gold medal in women’s single skating at the Olympic Games in Beijing. According to the sum of the short and free programs, the athlete scored 255.95 points.

Another Russian athlete, Alexandra Trusova (251.73), won silver, and Japanese Kaori Sakamoto (233.13) won bronze. Russian Kamila Valieva, who was in the lead after the short programme, became the fourth (224.09).
As specified, Valieva made several mistakes in the free programme, as a result, the judges estimated her performance today at 141.93 points. The overall score was 224.09, so the skater did not get to the first three places.
Thus, currently, the ROC team has 26 medals: 5 gold, 9 silver, and 12 bronze. Norway takes the lead (14-7-8), Germany (10-7-5) occupies second place, and the USA (8-8-5) closes the top three.
