The Russian adventure thriller by Oleg Trofim “Major Grom: The Plague Doctor” topped the daily viewership rating of the Netflix streaming service on Thursday, July 8, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the FlixPatrol aggregator of viewing statistics for online platforms.
According to the aggregator, the domestic blockbuster released this week on the Netflix platform has topped the top views in 14 countries over the past day. The second place in the Netflix rating was taken by the “Warcraft” fantasy film (9 countries).
They remind that “Major Grom” is the most popular and successful comic strip in Russia. In eight years it crossed the bar of 100 numbers and 25 books with a total circulation of over a million copies becoming a national bestseller with a huge fan base throughout the country.
It is clarified that the film was released in Russia on April 1, 2021. The plot is centred around Police Major Igor Grom, played by Tikhon Zhiznevsky. Grom is known throughout St. Petersburg for its irreconcilable stance towards criminals. The Plague Doctor appears in the city who kills people and escape punishment with the help of money and a high position in society. Thus, Grom faces investigation difficulties for the first time in his life.
