Russian football clubs have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) because of the suspension from European competitions.

On May 2, UEFA decided on the participation of Russian teams in tournaments in the 2022/2023 season. Russian football clubs were suspended from European competitions, and the national team was excluded from the League of Nations. UEFA also rejected Russia’s bid to host the 2028 and 2032 European Football Championships.
“Dynamo” Moscow and “CSKA” Moscow, as well as St. Petersburg’s “Zenit” and “Sochi” have filed an appeal against the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The clubs requested an expedited review of the complaint.
The following season, “Zenit”, which became the champion of Russia, had to play in the group stage of the Champions League. “Dynamo”, “Sochi”, and “CSKA”, fighting for the top three winners, could get into the Europa League or the Conference League.
