Russian Foreign Ministry: West Should Not Underestimate Moscow’s and Beijing’s Determination to Protect Their Interests

Western countries should not underestimate the determination of Russia and China to protect their national interests, including in the field of security, according to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“We work calmly, confidently in our own abilities. There is probably one recommendation to colleagues in the West: do not underestimate the determination of Moscow and Beijing to protect their national interests, including in the security sphere,” Ryabkov said.

Ryabkov stressed that the question of how Russia and China will further protect their national interests, in cooperation with each other, separately or in coordination, “does not concern the Western group.”

“They tell us that the issue of expansion concerns only NATO and those who want to join there. And we say to NATO members and those who want to join there: what will happen next between Moscow and Beijing, it does not concern them,” the diplomat added.

Ryabkov noted that relations with Beijing in various directions will continue to deepen, while both countries, in turn, also do not underestimate the risks created by the “Western group”.
