The Russian athlete, Zaurbek Sidakov, defeated the representative of Belarus, Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov, with a score of 7:0 in the final of the Olympic freestyle wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 74 kg, TASS reports. Bronze was taken by American Kyle Dake and Bekzod Abdurakhmonov from Uzbekistan.

It is clarified that the 25-year-old Sidakov is a two-time world champion. He brought the Russian team the 17th gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, thanks to which the national team bypassed the Australians in the overall medal standings and climbed to fifth place.
Currently, the Russian team has 17 gold, 23 silver, and 22 bronze medals. In the overall standings, the team of China (35-26-17) is in the lead. It is followed by the Americans (31-35-31), the Japanese (24-10-15), and the UK team (18-18-19).
Interestingly, the rival of the representative of Russia, Kadimagomedov, who took silver this time, was born in the village of the Republic of Dagestan and until 2020 was a Russian representative at international competitions. However, in 2020 the athlete began to play for the team of Belarus.
