The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), in agreement with the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia, removed requirements to restrict access to the Telegram messenger, the official website of the service reported.
In the summer of 2017, Roskomnadzor included Telegram Messenger in the register of information dissemination organizers. Now, Roskomnadzor positively assesses the willingness shown by the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov, to counter terrorism and extremism. It is noted that the department is ready to cooperate with all Internet companies in the Russian Federation in order to quickly stop the spread of terrorist, extremist, and other prohibited information.
