Today, Russians celebrate the Day of the National Guard of Russia (Rosgvardia). The Director of Rosgvardia, Viktor Zolotov, congratulated the employees of the institution on their professional holiday, INTERFAX reports.
In his congratulations, Zolotov mentioned that the military force will have to step up efforts to ensure security in strategically important areas of the Arctic, in the Crimea, and the Far East.
“This year we have a double anniversary. Today, on March 27, the law enforcement will be 210 years old, and a week later, on April 5, we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the creation of the Russian Guard,” Zolotov said.
It is noted that the full history of the institution has been counted since 1811 when the military battalions of the internal guard were formed by the decree of Emperor Alexander I. The emperor’s decree was issued on March 27, which is why this day is considered a professional holiday of the Russian Guard.
It is specified that Rosgvardia in its current state was formed on the basis of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2016 by decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
