The Russian National Artistic Gymnastics Team won 13 medals at the European Championships in Switzerland and took the first team place, RIA News reports. Russian gymnasts have won 5 gold, 7 silver, and 1 bronze medals. The second place was taken by the UK team (1-1-4), and the third place, by the Swiss team (1-1-1).

The tournament was held from April 21 to April 25, 2021. According to the senior coach of the Russian national team Valentina Rodionenko, nervousness affected the performance of the championship participants but the Russian athletes coped with their tasks. According to her, the unusual conditions in which the competitions are held, namely a lot of restrictions and COVID-tests, influenced the atmosphere at the championship.
On Friday, on the first medal day of the competition, the Russians won 4 medals in the all-around, Nikita Nagorny and Victoria Listunova took gold, David Belyavsky and Angelina Melnikova won silver.
On Saturday, Russian gymnasts took 6 more medals. Melnikova won gold in the uneven bars, silver was taken by Vladislava Urazova, and bronze took Melnikova for the vault. In turn, Nagorny won 1 gold in floor exercises and 2 silver in the exercises on rings and on the pommel horse.
On Sunday, on the final day of the competition, the Russian gymnasts won 3 more awards. Belyavsky won a silver medal in the uneven bars and gold in the bar exercises. Thus, he became a seven-time European champion. Melnikova became the second in the floor exercise.
