Scientists of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center, the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Technical Physics (Snezhinsk, Chelyabinsk region) are creating a new projectile designed to effectively combat small-sized drones and aerial bombs.
The projectile being developed at the federal nuclear centre contains a body with a set of propellant blocks sequentially located along the axis of the projectile, each of which contains explosives and striking elements, loads connected by flexible binding cutting elements. As specified, under the influence of explosives, loads are fired in pairs near the target and stretch the connecting elements behind them, from which a cutting network is formed.
It is planned that the projectile will be able to fight small-sized drones or controlled enemy bombs more successfully than existing samples by increasing the area of effective drone destruction. As reported, the projectile was patented at the end of October 2021. At the moment, specialists are preparing for the manufacture and preliminary testing of the product.
