The Russian quality experts (Roskachestvo) told which wine would be best for barbecue. They advised to chill the wine in advance, and then wrap each bottle with foil and put it in a thermal package or in a refrigerator bag.
The head of the expert group of the Wine Guide of Russia, Artur Sarkisyan, explained that white wine should not be too simple and light. With poultry, fish, or even white meat on the grill, it is better to drink something more complicated from classic grape varieties, Chardonnay, or Riesling. In turn, for red wines, the rule works the other way around: for complex wines with long aging, it is better to choose a different occasion, and for a picnic, you can choose wines that are not complex, but quite balanced.
Of the white wines that are leading in the 2019 Wine Guide of Russia, Riesling Chateau Tamagne Reserve, Chardonnay Golubitskoye, Chardonnay Fanagoria Cru Lermont with aging in oak are suitable. For outdoor recreation are suitable wines Kokur of the Sun Valley, the author’s Chardonnay Sauvignon Fanagoria, and Muller-Thurgau of the winery Kuban Vino. Of red wines for shashlik, it is advised to buy Saperavi under the Chateau Tamagne brand or the Fanagoria Avtohton Krasnostop. Also, good wines are considered Inkerman and Usadba Perovskih.
