Russian Retail Chain Opened First ‘Near the House’ Store

The Lenta hypermarket chain has launched the first store in the “near the house” format “Mini Lenta”, TASS reports. The first store was opened in Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region. 

It is noted that Lenta is the largest hypermarket chain in Russia and the fourth largest retail chain in the country. At the end of 2020, the company managed 255 hypermarkets and 139 supermarkets with a total sales area of ​​more than 1.5 million square metres in 89 cities of Russia.

“Mini Lenta” is a new format that is being developed as part of the growth strategy as a way to get closer to customers and offer a precisely selected assortment of goods at the best prices in the segment. Thus, in accordance with the updated strategy, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk became the priority regions for development this year.

It is specified that the assortment of the store includes more than 5,500 items, formed from the most popular food and non-food products so as to satisfy all the daily needs of residents of nearby houses. The focus is on fresh baked goods, vegetables, fruits, and other fresh products.
