Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov came first in skiathlon, bringing the first Olympic gold for Team ROC. Denis Spitsov finished second and got silver.

As specified, Bolshunov covered the distance in 1 hour 16 minutes and 9.8 seconds. Spitsov was 1 minute and 11 seconds behind him. Iivo Niskanen got bronze for Finland.
This was the first gold for the Russian team at the Winter Olympics of this year. The next gold got the figure skating team, in which a big part of the victory belongs to Kamila Valieva, who became the first woman to perform a quadruple jump in the history of the Olympics.
Also, today, on February 7, the Russians got silver for the second result in the team ski jumping competitions in mixed. This became the first Olympics medal in this sport in the history of the Russian Federation.
The Russian team, consisting of Irma Makhinya, Danil Sadreev, Irina Avvakumova, and Evgeny Klimov, received 890.3 points. Slovenia took the first place (1,001.5 points) and Canada became the third one (844.6 points).
Thus, the national team of the Russian Olympic Committee, under whose flag Russian athletes perform, has seven medals at the moment: two gold ones, three silver, and two bronze.
