The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, in an interview with the Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty, described the AUKUS (the alliance of Australia, the United Kingdom, and the USA) as another military bloc directed against Russia and China stressing that this threatens also the entire Asian security architecture.
“Just a few days ago, another military bloc was formed in the region – the American-British-Australian AUKUS, […] when it was created, the Americans also kicked out their French partners, intercepting a lucrative deal for the construction of nuclear submarines for Canberra. Apparently, Atlantic solidarity also has its price. […] For the sake of implementing another adventure of the White House in order to strengthen control over such a promising region as the Asia-Pacific is today, the entire security architecture in Asia is being put at risk, prerequisites are being created for undermining the authority of ASEAN and other regional associations,” the Secretary stated.
Moreover, Patrushev described the alliance of the USA, India, Australia, and Japan as a “prototype of the Asian NATO”.
“Washington will try to involve other countries in this organization, mainly in order to pursue anti-Chinese and anti-Russian policies,” Patrushev warned.
Speaking about Afghanistan, Patrushev noted that the situation in the country showed that there is not such a notion as “friendship” for the USA.
“In fact, Afghanistan has become a ‘litmus test’, once again confirming that for Washington there are no friends in the world, but only its own selfish interests. Having spent trillions of dollars on military operations, the United States and its allies left chaos and destruction everywhere. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, now Ukraine, and even earlier Yugoslavia, dozens of Asian, African, and Latin American states – all these are examples of the destructive American strategy of global domination,” the official claimed.
Patrushev said that after the US fiasco in Afghanistan, conditions are forming for a new migration crisis that can be even more serious than in 2015, when there was such a huge influx of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa, devastated by Americans and Europeans, in the Mediterranean, that ‘the figures still cannot be calculated’. He emphasized that the USA government and its allies must bear responsibility for undermining stability in foreign countries.
According to the Russian official, the G7 proposal to involve Russia and China in solving security issues in Central Asia confirms that this association has lost its relevance.
“The G7 countries, with their proposal to involve China and Russia in solving security issues in Central Asia, confirmed the fact that this association is only a discussion club. Moreover, the discussions there are conducted under the strict control of Washington,” the Head of the Russian Security Council stated.
He stressed that ‘Russia participates only in international structures and clubs that solve real problems’.
