The Russian government allowed regular flights to Cairo from the regions, experts assessed whether such transportation could be of interest to the tourism market, RIA News reports with reference to the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR).
According to the decision of the Operational Headquarters to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus, flights to foreign countries from the international airports of Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Makhachkala, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, and Khabarovsk have been resumed from February 8, 2021. Thus, the total number of hubs, of which transportation in foreign directions is possible, has reached 19.
It is specified that from the cities from which foreign flights will be operated, from February 8, Russians got a chance to fly to Cairo. No more than one flight per week is planned from each airport. However, according to experts, Cairo, as an independent tourist destination, has never been in demand on the Russian market, because they go there mainly for business and humanitarian purposes, and to a lesser extent, for transit to the Red Sea resorts or to countries in Africa and the Middle East.
