Since 2021, graduates of 40 Russian universities will be able to submit their startups for consideration by the certification committee instead of their thesis, Izvestia reported with reference to the Ministry of Education and Science.
It is noted that this programme is designed to engage students in the development of the ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship, as well as to support the business. The startup should correspond to the specialty chosen at a university. This practice has already been introduced at Tomsk Polytechnic University. The rector, Andrey Yakovlev, believes that with the help of startups involvement, higher education becomes closer to the needs of the modern market.
