Three Russian universities entered the top 100 universities in the world. These are the Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Izvestia reports. These universities took 21st, 40th, and 46th places in the international ranking.
In 2020, these universities improved their positions. Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University moved up one step, and MIPT moved by five. It is noted that the Moscow international ranking “Three University Missions” assesses the performance of three key tasks by universities: educational functions, conducting scientific research, and establishing the relationship between the university and local communities. It is specified that the top 1,500 included universities from 97 countries, which is 18 more than a year earlier.
