Russian women spend money on beauty services more often than men, though the average bill for men is twice as high, according to a study conducted by the Russian Standard Bank, RIA News reports.
The study examined anonymized data on all online and offline transactions with bank cards in the beauty segment of the Russian market for the Q1 of 2021 and 2020. In the Q1 of 2021, the average check was 3,350 rubles in the beauty category (-2.8 per cent compared to the Q1 of 2020). At the same time, men spend on average 4,525 rubles per purchase (+1.9 per cent), while women spend an average of 2,871 rubles in this segment (-2.6 per cent).
It is noted that Russian women spend more than men in all categories of the segment, especially in cosmetics stores, where the total amount of their purchases is twice as much. At the same time, the average check for women is lower in all categories, except for hairdressing and beauty salons. Men rarely make purchases but if they do, they make large ones, and most often those are gifts.
