Today, on March 18, 2022, at 3 pm Moscow time, a concert dedicated to the Day of Reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia is taking place in Moscow. On this day eight years ago, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, signed an agreement on the admission of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia.
The concert was organized on the initiative of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The program includes a teleconference with Sevastopol, as well as a large musical concert. Nikolay Baskov, Grigory Leps, Polina Gagarina, “Hands Up!”, Timati, Nikolay Rastorguyev and the Lyube group, as well as many other artists from Russia, Ukraine, and the Donetsk People’s Republic will perform for the audience.
It is specified that the entrance to the Luzhniki territory by car is closed on March 18, 2022.
Residents of Ulyanovsk also decided to support the Crimeans and organized a concert today to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia.

Crimea’s growth over 8 years of being Russian again
It is recalled that Crimea and Sevastopol became Russian regions again after the referendum held on March 16, 2014, in which the majority of residents voted for joining Russia. Reunification with Russia was supported by 96.77 per cent of Crimeans and 95.6 per cent of Sevastopol residents.
According to the accession agreement, all residents of Crimea are recognized as citizens of Russia, unless they have written a statement that they want to keep the citizenship of Ukraine.
Crimea is one of the most popular tourist and sanatorium-resort centers of Russia, the main shipbuilding facilities of Russia in the Black Sea are located in the region, the Republic of Crimea is a major food producer.
During the period when the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol were part of the Russian Federation, the Crimean Bridge and the Tavrida highway were built, which allow for transport links between Crimea and the mainland, a new airport complex of the Ivan Aivazovsky Simferopol International Airport, an energy bridge and power plants were built – Tavrichesky and Balaklava (Sevastopol) combined-cycle gas plants – thermal power plants.
The key moment was the completion of the construction of the multidisciplinary republican center “Crimean Republican Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko”, designed for 700 inpatient beds.
According to the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksenov, the republican budget’s own revenues have increased compared to 2014. If in 2014 it was 25 billion rubles, then in 2020 it was 61 billion rubles. In 2021, the budget’s own revenues amounted to 79.2 billion rubles, which is 28.5 per cent more than in 2020. In 2013, when Crimea was part of Ukraine, the total budget of the republic was 9.6 billion rubles. The volume of investments in Crimea and Sevastopol, as of March 2022, exceeded 1.37 trillion rubles.
Since January 1, 2015, a free economic zone has been operating in the territories of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, which promotes investment attraction and assumes a special regime for business and other activities, including preferential taxation and the application of the customs procedure of a free customs zone.
In addition, Crimea is a popular tourist destination. By the end of 2021, the tourist flow to Crimea reached 9.5 million people. This figure became a record and exceeded the figures of 2019, when about 7.43 million vacationers visited the region. The Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea reported that in the first nine months of 2021, tourists “brought” more than 36 billion rubles to Crimea.
