Russians Named Reasons to Switch to Freelance

Services and SberServices conducted a study and found out how many residents of Russia changed their profession in the year of the coronavirus, from March 2020 to February 2021, and how many people switched to freelance.  

According to the results of the study, over the past year, only 23 per cent of the surveyed radically changed their profession and 18 per cent of respondents noted that they managed to change not only their profession but also the format of employment, to freelance.

Thus, 48 per cent of Russians were driven to change their profession and employment format by the desire to earn more, 24 per cent of the respondents decided on radical changes due to disappointment in their previous profession, 23 per cent had a need for a flexible work schedule, 20 per cent of respondents had a lack of attractive vacancies.

Another 12 per cent of participants in the study had to change their jobs by the desire to work for themselves. Also, 11 per cent of respondents expressed a wish to get a more popular profession, as well as to move to another city or country. Finally, 7 per cent mentioned the impossibility of working in their speciality due to health issues or injuries.
