Russians Kudermetova and Samsonova Reached ‘Australian Open’ 2nd Round

Russian tennis player, Veronika Kudermetova, has won a ticket to the second round of the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne. The first round has also been overcome by Lyudmila Samsonova. 

In the opening round of the competition, Veronika Kudermetova defeated the representative of Belgium Maryna Zanevska with a score of 6:2, 7:6 (7:4). The duration of the game was 1 hour 37 minutes. As specified, in the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the Russian is on the ninth line, and the Belgian is on the 80th. In the second round, Kudermetova will play with the 113th racket of the world, American Katie Volynets.

Also, the barrier of the first round was overcome by Russian Lyudmila Samsonova (No. 20 in the WTA ranking), who defeated Italian Jasmine Paolini (66) – 6:2, 6:4. The match lasted 1 hour and 9 minutes. Samsonova’s next opponent may be her compatriot Oksana Selekhmetyeva (179), if she wins the Netherlands’ Donna Vekic (64).
