Russians Told About Readiness for Epidemic

Russian Public Opinion Research Centre conducted a study on Russians’ readiness for prevention in the epidemic season, during which the country’s residents were interviewed about preparations for the seasonal rise in influenza, according to the official portal of VTsIOM.  

Among the survey participants, 84 per cent said that they are taking care of their health, 55 per cent quit smoking, 49 per cent gave up alcoholic beverages, 46 per cent are trying to seek medical help if needed.

At the same time, 55 per cent of the study participants claim that they almost never get sick or get sick less than once a year, 39 per cent get sick once or twice a year, and 17 per cent got sick in the past six months or are sick now.

Among the measures to prevent flue, respondents most often named vaccination (26 per cent), a decrease in the number of social contacts and social distance (19 per cent), adherence to hygiene standards (17 per cent), and wearing masks and gloves (15 per cent).
