Russians Told Why They Love Their Cities

Specialists of the Russian job search service conducted a study and found out whether the residents of Russia love their cities. It turned out that 67 per cent of respondents love the city they live in, 26 per cent of respondents are neutral, and 7 per cent do not like their cities.  

Sochi appeared to be a 100 per cent favourite city of the local residents, none of whom noted that they do not like their city or treat it neutrally. St. Petersburg came in second place (84 per cent) and Voronezh is loved by 82 per cent of respondents. The top five is closed by Tyumen 81 per cent and Kaliningrad (76 per cent). The rest of the top ten are Kazan (74 per cent), Moscow (73 per cent), Nizhny Novgorod (71 per cent), Khabarovsk (68 per cent), and Rostov-on-Don (67 per cent).

The main advantages of Sochi, according to its residents are beautiful nature (84 per cent), good climate (79 per cent) and cleanliness (37 per cent). Residents of St. Petersburg love it for its historical architecture (78 per cent), developed infrastructure (49 per cent) and proximity to friends and relatives (37 per cent). In Voronezh, respondents also mentioned proximity to friends and relatives (59 per cent) among the city’s advantages, as well as its beautiful nature (50 per cent) and historical architecture (43 per cent).

Tyumen is mostly loved by the locals for its proximity to family and friends (62 per cent), developed infrastructure (52 per cent) and cleanliness (43 per cent). Kaliningrad was most often noted for its beautiful nature (72 per cent), historical architecture (64 per cent) and good climate (48 per cent). In turn, Kazan is singled out by residents for its developed infrastructure (56 per cent), proximity to relatives and friends (50 per cent) and historical architecture (47 per cent).

In Moscow, the developed infrastructure (60 per cent), good transport accessibility (48 per cent) and historical architecture (40 per cent) are most appreciated by the city residents. Nizhny Novgorod is loved for its proximity to family and friends (56 per cent), historical architecture (43 per cent) and beautiful nature (38 per cent), while Khabarovsk is appreciated for beautiful nature (59 per cent), proximity to family (50 per cent) and cleanliness (27 per cent). Finally, Rostov-on-Don is loved for proximity to family (58 per cent), good climate (38 per cent) and beautiful nature (36 per cent).
