The number of car loans issued in Russia in April 2021 increased to a historical maximum of 93.8 thousand loans, while the average cheque fell by 3 per cent, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Equifax credit bureau.
According to the company, Russians took out 15.5 per cent more car loans in April 2021. At the same time, the average limit decreased for the first time since the beginning of the year, by 3 per cent, to 970.7 thousand rubles. However, the volume of loans issued in April increased by 12.2 per cent, to 91 billion rubles, which was a historic maximum. As a result, the number of active loans for the purchase of cars in April increased by 1.5 per cent, to 1.7 million cars, and their total volume increased by 2.7 per cent, to 946.1 billion rubles.
Experts note that the decrease in the average amount of a car loan in April compared to March is due solely to the large volume of loans issued, which has shifted towards the more budget segment. At the same time, over 60 per cent of car loans in the past few months have been issued for the purchase of new cars.
