The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, Maksim Shaskolsky, held a meeting with Wildberries CEO, Tatiana Bakalchuk, during which he discussed the issue of legalization of parallel imports in Russia.

“The legalization of parallel imports in the current conditions will contribute to an increase in the number of economic entities importing goods to Russia. This will allow saturating the domestic market with goods needed by consumers,” Shaskolsky said.
It is noted that the antimonopoly regulator has already sent to the government a draft resolution on the legalization of parallel imports. The FAS expects that legalization will solve the problems of price, quality, and assortment discrimination on the part of copyright holders against Russian consumers, as well as eliminate unfair competition from official distributors of goods against importers.
In turn, the CEO of Wildberries said that such a measure would have a positive impact on the small and medium-sized business sector. In her opinion, this way small and medium-sized businesses will be able to legally import foreign goods without obtaining additional permits, and consumers will have access to a wider range of high-quality goods at adequate prices.
