A winter school for young physicists and mathematicians began to work in Novosibirsk, reports Novosibirsk regional TV-Channel. About 100 high school students from all over Russia came there to dive into the world of science and get acquainted with institutes.
The program includes lectures on logarithms and geometry. Teachers are candidates of sciences, as well as members of the Russian Academy of Science. The schedule includes excursions to the planetarium and to the Novosibirsk State University.
The direction for young mathematicians was launched for the first time this year. Previously, there were taught only physicists. For teenagers, this is a good preparation before entering the physics and mathematics school.
Students in grades 9-11 live in a hall of residence and study for free due to the grant. The organizers say that out of 15 thousand graduates of the school, every fourth became a candidate of science.
