Sergey Shoigu: Foreign Warships in Black Sea Trying to Test Russian Southern Borders Protection

Ships entering the Black Sea with high-precision long-range weapons of the US, NATO and other non-Black Sea countries are trying to test the protection of the Black Sea coast and the south of Russia, as considered by the Russian Defence Minister, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

“Well, you know, of course, we understand: when a ship of a non-regional power enters the Black Sea, when we understand that there are high-precision long-range weapons on board, when we understand that these weapons are on it, that is, it is not going on a tourist trip, naturally, we watch it, we accompany it and understand that at any time, at any moment, any provocations are possible, as it was not so long ago with a British ship, and, of course, we should not allow such things,” Shoigu said.

The Minister noted that in such a way border protection of the country is tested.

“This is, you know, an almost constant attempt to test us, to check how ready we are, how well we have built the entire system along the Black Sea coast, in general, in the south of our country,” he said.

Shoigu assumed that further exercises of the other countries will be carried out and thus, provocation attempts are still possible in the future.

“Well, we are also conducting exercises and we will conduct them,” the General concluded.
