“The practice of conducting joint Russian-Chinese operational and combat training has become routine. We have achieved a high level of interaction between our armed forces on land, in the air, and at sea. Its buildup is important,” Shoigu stated.

The exercise is aimed at demonstrating the capabilities of China and Russia to fight terrorism, as well as maintain peace and stability in the region, RG reminds. The Russian minister thanked the Minister of National Defence of the PRC, Wei Fenghe, for the invitation to attend the training and noted high professionalism in the manoeuvres and coordinating actions. The military cooperation between Russia and China is reaching a qualitatively new level, Shoigu said.

“Against the backdrop of tremendous changes and the pandemic, the exercises reflect the continued support between China and Russia and show a high level of development of inter-army ties. These exercises are not directed against third countries, but at increasing the ability to jointly respond to risks and challenges,” Wei Fenghe explained.
