The ‘White Trail’ run was attended by 337 athletes and amateurs from Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Omsk, the Kemerovo Region, Barnaul, Biysk and Gorno-Altaisk, the official website of the event reports. Compared to last year, the number of participants has increased by 100 people.
Distances of 21 and 10 kilometres on the ice of the Ob Sea and in a pine forest were offered for runners. Among them, 67 children took part in the children’s race, who ran 500 meters, and received finisher medals and prizes. According to the organizers, the peculiarity of this start was an unusual place for running, as the Ob reservoir is well known to everyone, but it has never occurred to anyone to run there on the ice in winter.
Due to the warm winter and thin ice, rescuers did not allow runners to approach the centre of the reservoir. In the middle of the distance, there was a food station. Athletes could eat a dumpling with potatoes, pancakes and sandwiches with bacon. The winners in the 21 km race were Pavel Pchelkin from Tomsk and Tatyana Kurnosova from Novosibirsk; in the 10 km race, Yuriy Tarasov and Elena Rukhlyada.
