The largest provider of digital services in Russia (Rostelecom) will install energy-efficient lighting systems using digital control in 4 cities of the Rostov Region. These are Aksay, Volgodonsk, Kamensk-Shakhtinsk, and Krasny Sulin. The existing street lights will be replaced with new LED ones and combined with an automated outdoor lighting control system.
The system will automatically turn on and off street lights, as well as track all the malfunctions in the network and promptly report them to dispatchers. The largest amount of work is expected to be carried out in Volgodonsk. It is planned to replace almost 8,000 street lighting lamps there. The provider expects to complete the work by the end of 2020.
The smart lighting system has already shown positive results in the cities of the Rostov region. The first city in the region in which Rostelecom has installed smart lighting was Azov. It is noted that thanks to the energy consumption savings, regional municipalities have a chance to develop other relevant areas of urban life.
