Russian tourists were offered a remote issuance of Visa and Mastercard bank cards at the People’s Bank of Sri Lanka before leaving for the resort. This was reported by the embassy of the island state in Moscow.
Thanks to the cooperation of the People’s Bank of Sri Lanka and the Russian National Investment and Industrial Bank (NIPB), Russian tourists will be able to remotely issue Visa or Mastercard cards from November 21, 2022, and receive them upon arrival at the resort.
To do this, you need to open a personal account in dollars or euros in the People’s Bank of Sri Lanka two weeks before visiting the country, and then transfer funds to it from an account in the NIPB. As specified, the Russian bank provides services to support all necessary procedures for this. The embassy also stressed that the debit card will work in other countries as well.
Earlier in November, Russian tourists were offered a package tour to Sri Lanka for the New Year holidays from 193 thousand rubles, which is half the cost of a one-way ticket to the resort. Thus, the price of a direct flight of Aeroflot on the route Moscow — Colombo — Moscow starts from 406 thousand rubles for two.
