Survey: Russians Choose New Year Celebration Without TV

The recording of New Year’s TV shows is in full swing, but only 1 Russian out of 9 is going to watch them. The most expected artists this year are Zivert, Niletto, and Emin.

According to the study results, 40 per cent of Russians are not going to watch New Year’s TV shows on the first night of 2022. The respondents most often explain this by the too traditional composition of artists or the fundamental rejection of TV. However, 36 per cent of the respondents intend to turn on the TV for the background sound and 11 per cent plan to spend the holiday watching TV shows.

Men (49 per cent vs. 32 per cent among women) and young people under 34 (44 per cent) want to celebrate the New Year without a traditional New Year’s light more often than other groups of people. Also, Russians with a salary of less than 50 thousand rubles plan to spend New Year’s Eve in front of the TV almost twice as often as respondents with an income of 80 thousand rubles (11 per cent vs. 6 per cent, respectively).

Of those who would like to watch TV shows on New Year’s night, most respondents would like to see on their TV screens Zivert, while others voted for Niletto and Emin. The top ten most loved artists also included Grigory Leps, Maksim Galkin, Nikolai Baskov, Alla Pugacheva, Lev Leshchenko, Sofia Rotaru, and Ani Lorak.
