On September 21-22, at the invitation of the Taliban authorities, the special representative of the President of Russia, Zamir Kabulov, the special representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Yue Xiaoyong, and the special representative of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Sadiq, have met in Kabul, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
It is noted that the wide range of issues related to the recent political changes in Afghanistan were discussed with the emphasis put on the inclusiveness of the government, human rights, the development of economic and humanitarian ties in order to stimulate friendly relations between Afghanistan and foreign countries, ensuring the unity and territorial integrity of the country.
During the meeting, support was expressed for the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. In turn, the Taliban side emphasized special attention to the promotion of relations with Russia, China, and Pakistan, and stressed the responsible role of the three countries in strengthening peace and security in Afghanistan.
As a result, an agreement was reached to maintain constructive contacts in the interests of peace and prosperity of Afghanistan, stability and development of the region. Besides, during the meeting of the Special Representatives with the former President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, and the former chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah, the efforts to promote peace and stability in the country were considered.
