Today Russians Express Gratitude and Pay Tribute to Emergency Rescuers [Video]

Today, on December 27, Russians have the Day of the Rescuer or Emergency Rescuer’s Day. On this special occasion, they congratulate the country’s rescuers, express gratitude to them and pay tribute to those who passed away fulfilling their duties.

This was what happened to the main chief of the Russian EMERCOM. On the morning of September 8, 2021, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that during a working visit to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, Yevgeny Zinichev, together with the governor of the region, Alexander Uss, checked the progress of construction of a new fire station in Norilsk.

The incident with the EMERCOM head occurred at the Kitabo-Oron waterfall, which is located in a protected area, in the western part of the Putorana Nature Reserve. At about 5 am, the head took off from Norilsk by helicopter and died already around 7 am. At the time of his death, Zinichev was 55 years old. He headed the Ministry of Emergency Situations since May 2018, at the same time he joined the Security Council.

It was reported that Zinichev died during a departmental shooting when he tried to hold a film crew member who slipped at the edge of a cliff. The shooting was during an exercise for a training film of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. An employee of the film crew died after falling into the water and Zinichev crashed on a rock trying to save him.

The first monument to Zinichev for his feat was opened on December 4 in Elista. It was installed in the Park of Rescuers in front of the building of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kalmykia.

The deputies of the Moscow City Duma also supported the idea to install a monument in the capital to the deceased head. The initiator of the idea was the Russian Military Historical Society that proposed to erect a monument in Dmitry Mikhailik Square in the Fili-Davydkovo district. The society will allocate 20 million rubles for these purposes.

And today, on Rescuer’s Day, a Russian musician, State Duma deputy Denis Maydanov, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia presented a video clip for the song “Angels of Good Hope” about the work of emergency workers.

The clip shows emergencies that occurred in different years, for example, a fire at the Ostankino TV tower in 2000 and an explosion in a house in Magnitogorsk on the eve of 2019. The shooting took place during the elimination of real emergencies and fire-tactical exercises. More than 100 employees of the EMERCOM took part in it. The creation of the video took more than half a year.

The clip ends with Zinichev’s words, “Unfortunately, humanity has not yet learned how to manage natural disasters, but we are obliged to fight them. Unfortunately, we will still have a job.”

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia noted that it was Zinichev who owned the idea of creating a clip. It came to him in May, when Maydanov first performed this song from the stage at the international salon “Integrated Security 2021”.
