The Krasnodar Territory in 2020 received 11.5 million tourists due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the acting Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage of the Krasnodar Territory Maria Zolotukhina, TASS reports.
“The resort fee allows us to create new objects, improve the resort areas. Our guests will definitely see the result. In two years, from mid-2018 to mid-2020, the amount of funds received by the regional budget from paying the resort tax amounted to 373.2 million rubles. The development of this money began last year. Basically, they are invested in the improvement of resort areas,” Zolotukhina said.
General statistics showed that in 11 months of 2020 the entire tourist flow, its 78%, is concentrated in Sochi, Anapa, and Gelendzhik. In this regard, it is planned to diversify the tourist product and create new tourist centres. Zolotukhina said that the principle of clustering has worked well and will help to better place the accents in tourism development.
