The TV presenters of the Ukraine 24 TV channel hesitated after the request of the Georgian political scientist, Gela Vasadze, to conduct a conversation in Russian. The recording of the conversation was published on the Odnoklassniki network page.
The Georgian expert asked Ukrainians if it was possible to switch to the Russian language to avoid misunderstandings. Even though there already were cases Ukrainian TV presenters switched to Russian especially for the politologist, this time the presenters refused him stressing that they could not switch to Russian.
“Should I answer you in Georgian?” Vasadze asked then.
This happened due to the fact that since 2019, a law has been in force in Ukraine, according to which Ukrainian is considered the only state language and is mandatory in almost all spheres of life.
