Residents of the Sverdlovsk region prefer to marry foreigners. In 2019, 2604 such marriages were registered, and a year earlier there were six hundred less, reports e1.ru.
Most often, Uralians register marriages with citizens of Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Then come immigrants from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia. Among the far abroad countries, most marriages are registered with citizens of Vietnam and Germany; then comes Israel, China, Turkey, and Egypt.
“In 2019, the geography expanded compared to previous years. We registered marriages with citizens of Belgium, Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Peru, Argentina, Afghanistan, Portugal, Ecuador, Cyprus,” said Natalya Khramova, deputy head of the Sverdlovsk region registry office.
According to the head, foreigners noted that Yekaterinburg is an economically developed, civilized city, and this attracted tourists to it. This is also due to the fact that the Urals universities are in demand and many students from other countries are studying there.
