US Reconnaissance Plane Spotted Near Russian Border

On November 9, from 2.15 pm to 7.28 pm, an E-8C ground target reconnaissance and strike control aircraft of the US Air Force was detected over the Black Sea, as stated by the Russian Ministry of Defence. All this time it was accompanied by Russian radar. The plane, which took off from Ramstein Air Base in Germany, was flying in the airspace for 5 hours and 13 minutes. The minimum approach to the Russian border was 35 kilometres.

Recently, the activity of foreign reconnaissance aircraft and drones near the borders of the country has increased markedly. The Defence Ministry has repeatedly called on Western partners to abandon such actions, but there has been no reaction.

Also, the Ministry earlier issued a statement saying that the US sought to set up a multinational group of armed forces in close proximity of the Russian border. The ministry pointed out that US warships had arrived in the Black Sea region to take part in multinational drills led by the US European Command.

“Taking into account the fact that in addition to the US Navy, tactical, patrol, and strategic aviation, as well as contingents of the armed forces of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey, and Ukraine are planned to be involved in the drills, there is obviously an examination of the alleged theatre of military operations in case of Kiev’s preparations for a belligerent solution in the southeast,” the Ministry said, as quoted by Sputnik.
