Victory Parade: Moscow Gets Ready

On May 9, 2021, Russia celebrates the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Traditionally, the Victory Parade will be held on Red Square in Moscow, RIA News reports.

It is specified that the walking part of the parade will be more than 12.5 thousand people who will march along Red Square. Among them this year will also be Cossacks (more than 200 people from the Kuban army and the Great Don army). The parade will show historical and production models of equipment that have recently entered service. In total, more than 190 pieces of weapons and military equipment will be presented, and the legendary T-34 tanks will open the mechanized column.

In addition, the T-14 “Armata” tank with a 125-mm 2A82 cannon with digital control will be presented on the parade. The crew of such a tank is inside an armoured capsule, separated from the ammunition, which allows tankers to survive even with a direct hit into the turret. Another interesting example at the parade is the Kurganets-25 infantry fighting vehicle (BMP) with the Epoch unmanned module, which consists of a 57-mm light assault gun, a 7.62-mm machine gun, and two types of missile systems, which allows firing at two targets at once.

Finally, the parade will feature the newest self-propelled artillery unit, which surpasses analogues in the world in terms of accuracy and firing range. The calibre of the gun is 152 mm, and the digital fire control system makes more than 10 rounds per minute. Also, on Victory Day, 76 helicopters and aeroplanes will fly over Red Square, the number of which symbolizes the years that have passed since Victory Day. The famous Russian aerobatic teams will also take part in the parade.
