The International Festival of Mstislav Rostropovich began its work in Orenburg.

On the first evening, the audience heard the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet performed by soloists and the orchestra of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center.
“The brilliant opera, considered so even by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, is performed in all countries, in all languages, including Japanese, and we will perform it in the original language – in French,” says the creator and artistic director of the festival, Olga Rostropovich.
Also in the program of the show is a concert of the winners of the International Opera Competition Galina Vishnevskaya, a performance by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra named after Svetlanova led by Russian conductor Valentin Uryupin.
The international festival of Mstislav Rostropovich was established in memory of the legendary cellist and conductor.
