Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the staff and veterans of the State Historical Museum on the 150th anniversary of its foundation, noting the huge role of the museum in the study of Russian history.
“I cordially congratulate you on the significant anniversary – the 150th anniversary of the founding of the State Historical Museum […] Over the past century and a half, the Historical Museum has played a huge role in the study of the history of our Motherland, in strengthening national consciousness, educating people to respect their past,” the telegram published on the Kremlin’s official website says.
It is noted that created by the work and talent of outstanding scientists, educators, public figures, the museum has become the main keeper of the most “vivid, memorable pages of the thousand-year history of Russia.” Many compatriots donated funds for the construction of the museum and selflessly transferred rare items to the replenishing collection.
“I would like to sincerely thank you for your great, tireless work aimed at preserving our priceless historical, cultural, spiritual heritage, for your conscientious, truly ascetic service to the cause,” the President concluded.
