The Players’ Council of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) wanted to deprive Wimbledon of rating points for the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes.

It is noted that, in addition to Wimbledon, other tournaments in the UK may lose ranking points. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) is ready to join this initiative. According to the source, the final decision will be made in the next 48 hours.
Earlier, President of the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), Ian Hewitt, said that he refuses to consider the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian tennis players to Wimbledon 2022 as discrimination. He claimed that the decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of other players and their families.
On April 20, the organizers of Wimbledon announced that they would not allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the tournament. Thus, the second racket of the world, Russian Daniil Medvedev, will not be able to perform on it.
