Users of the Yandex.Music streaming service in 2021 most often listened to the singer Mari Kraymbrery and rapper Morgenshtern.
According to the number of auditions, Mari Kraymbrery became the most popular artist, and Morgenstern became the main artist, just like last year. The most listened song of the year was the track “Bird” by the rap duo HammAli & Navai.
Also, for the first time the international Eurovision song contest influenced the ratings of streaming: the winners, the Italian band Maneskin, held leading positions in the charts for several months with the compositions Beggin, Zitti e Buoni, I Wanna Be Your Slave.
In addition, the experts found out that the popularity of podcasts is growing: if in the middle of last year listeners spent an average of 116 minutes per month on podcasts, now it is more than three hours. Among genres, the most popular is phonk rap, which is a subgenre of hip-hop characterized by heavy deep basses and deliberately “spoiled” sound.
